The 2015-2016 school year will begin earlier for our incoming first graders than it will for the rest of our students. This orientation period will help our first graders adjust to attending school on a new campus, and it will allow them to experience the academic and socialization processes that will establish the basis for their success. Therefore, there will be a Parent Orientation on Monday, August 10, 2015, from 7:00 P.M. -9:00 P.M. in the school auditorium. There will also be a student information system and lunch automation workshop for the parents from 6:00 P.M. -7:00 P.M. that we strongly encourage you to attend.
This initial week, before the hectic opening days when all the other students arrive on campus, will allow our incoming first graders undisturbed time during which they will enjoy the undivided attention they need and deserve from their teachers and support staff. This time will also allow the teachers the opportunity to get to know both the children and you, their parents.
Instruction and activities will include interactive experiences in Reading, Language, Math, and Social Studies, and will also incorporate school rules, character education, behavior skills, social expectations, and physical development.
Please keep in mind that these two days are mandatory. All first graders must attend,so please arrange your schedules accordingly. The children must wear the complete school uniform on both days.
The 2-Day Schedule is as follows:
Wednesday & Thursday August 12 & 13, 2015
9:00 A.M. - 12:30 P.M.
Recess: 10:10 - 10:30 A.M.
Please note:
· Send a beverage and snack for your child for the daily recess break.
· Be sure to arrange to pick up your child by 12:30 P.M. for both days.
The Parent Support Committee (PSC) cordially invites the 1st grade parents to a reception, which will take place on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. in the cafeteria during the ribbon cutting ceremony.
