Parent Support Committee Appreciation Breakfast

Chamlian's Social Committee, comprised of faculty & staff, hosted a special Parent Support Committee (PSC) Appreciation Breakfast in appreciation to the dedicated parent volunteers! Tufenkian, Tavlian, & First Steps Preschools Visit

Chamlian Armenian School received its highly anticipated visit from the soon-to-be 1st grade students, who presently attend Tufenkian, Tavlian, and First Steps Preschools.The two hour visit included an arts and crafts activity, a tour of the 1st grade classrooms, snacks, and finally, playtime in the gymnasium. Chamlian Armenian School is ready to welcome this group of enthusiastic first graders to the 2017-2018 school year!

Armenian Club donates to our Sister School in Armenia

As our Chamlian community is aware, one of our school's sister schools are located in the village of Ashan in Karabagh. Our Armenian Club, through the efforts of our entire school community raised funds to support the school and remote village. When our 8th grade students visit Armenia each year they meet with the Principal of the school, as well as a group of the students to present their gift. Each year the students establish an unbreakable bond with the students from our sister school.

1st Grade Fieldtrip to Theatre West

On May 15th, 1st graders attended an interactive musical titled, "The Princess & the Frog" at Theatre West. Students learned how to keep promises and make good choices. After the play, students visited Beeman park for lunch and a playful afternoon!

8th Grade Special Assembly honoring Mr. Jack Hagopian

Per Chamlian’s tradition, each graduating class, or the hountsk (harvest), is named after an influential Armenian figure. This year’s graduating class honored their hountsk by the famous Armenian poet, Mr. Jack Hagopian. On Tuesday, May 9th, the 8th grade class hosted an assembly to personally meet and greet Mr. Jack Hagopian.

8th Grade Technology Steering Committee Juniors present to 7th Grade

On Monday, May 8th, several 8th Grade students hosted Chamlian's First Technology assembly for the 7th grade class. Dr. Panossian, the school's Educational Technology Specialist, and Ms. Rebecca, the computer teacher, formed a technology club titled, Technology Steering Committee Juniors. The TSC Juniors mission is to promote high level technology use in the school and lead a digital hands-on project. This year, the TSC Juniors re-assembled a computer and documented the process through video and photo blogs posted on a website.

SummerBridge PBL Camp

This summer, Chamlian is hosting their First Annual Summer Bridge PBL camp to incoming First through Fifth graders from August 7th-11th. Project Based Learning (PBL) is a method where students explore realistic problems, through an integrated approach to produce a solution. It reflects their knowledge about the studied topic and is inquiry or discovery based. Students become interactive learners as they investigate a topic in a student-centered environment fostering collaboration with peers, critical thinking, idea innovation development, feedback and revision, and a final public presentation.

Art Contest - "I Love My Neighborhood"

On Tuesday, April 25th, three Chamlian students were finalists for the "I Love My Neighborhood" art contest. Clara Khajikian (1st grade), Olivia Darakian ( 3rd grade), and Nanar Shahinian ( 4th Grade) competed against thousands of students and were recognized for their achievement by the City of Glendale.
