The 2010 - 2011 school year will begin earlier for our incoming first graders than it will for the remainder of our students. This orientation period will help our first graders adjust to attending school on the Lowell Avenue campus, and it will allow them to experience much needed academic and socialization processes that will establish the basis for their success.

Instruction and activities will include interactive experiences in Reading, Language, Math, and Social Studies, and will also incorporate school rules, character education, behavior skills, and social expectations.

Please understand that these two days are mandatory. All first graders must attend, so please arrange your schedules accordingly. The children must wear their complete school uniform from the first day.

The schedule is as follows:

Wednesday Sept. 1 & Thursday Sept. 2 from 9:00 am -12:30 pm

Recess will be held from 10:10 am - 10:30 am

Please note:

• Send a beverage and snack for your child for the daily recess break.
• Be sure to arrange to pick up your child by 12:30 pm for these 2 days.

The Parent Support Committee (PSC) cordially invites the first grade parents to a reception, which will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the School auditorium.

The 2010 - 2011 Academic Year starts on September 7, 2010.
