In conjunction with our regular curriculum, we offer a comprehensive Armenian Studies program developed by the Prelacy Board of Regents. The program is geared towards the acquisition and mastery of the Armenian language and knowledge of Armenian history and culture. The course objectives include Armenian reading fluency and comprehension skills, oral expression, Armenian vocabulary enrichment and writing fluency, Religious Studies, and Armenian History.
Chamlian Armenian School is the only Armenian School in which both Eastern and Western Armenian dialects are taught. Newly published Reading textbooks in both dialects have been purchased for every grade level. Lessons are made interesting and relevant to the students through a variety of activities, including plays, projects, book reports, written expression and cooperative group work.
The department rewards students with the "Abovian" Armenian Language Award, which is presented to students with high academic standing in their Armenian language courses.
Students in grades 1-3 are rewarded monthly through the "Student of the Month" program, while students in grades 4-8 who have an "A" or "A-" average are recognized quarterly as "Honor Students."
