Armenian Cultural Dance Teacher

Overview:

Chamlian Armenian School is seeking a passionate and skilled Armenian Cultural Dance Teacher to join our faculty. This role is central to preserving and celebrating Armenian heritage through the performing arts. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in traditional and regional Armenian dance styles, a love for working with children, and the ability to create engaging, meaningful, and age-appropriate choreography. Through this position, students will deepen their cultural pride and connection to Armenian identity.


Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead Armenian dance classes for students across assigned grade levels (elementary through middle school)
  • Teach traditional and regional Armenian dance styles with attention to technique, musicality, and cultural significance
  • Prepare students for performances during school events and cultural celebrations
  • Collaborate with music and Armenian language teachers to integrate dance with broader cultural themes
  • Foster student appreciation for Armenian heritage through meaningful movement experiences
  • Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and discipline
 
Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching Armenian dance, preferably to children or in a school/community setting
  • Strong knowledge of traditional Armenian folk and regional dances
  • Passion for preserving and sharing Armenian culture through the performing arts
  • Ability to choreograph and direct group performances for various age levels
  • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
  • Bachelor's degree in dance, education, or a related field preferred (not required)
