Armenian Cultural Dance Teacher
Overview:
Chamlian Armenian School is seeking a passionate and skilled Armenian Cultural Dance Teacher to join our faculty. This role is central to preserving and celebrating Armenian heritage through the performing arts. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in traditional and regional Armenian dance styles, a love for working with children, and the ability to create engaging, meaningful, and age-appropriate choreography. Through this position, students will deepen their cultural pride and connection to Armenian identity.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead Armenian dance classes for students across assigned grade levels (elementary through middle school)
- Teach traditional and regional Armenian dance styles with attention to technique, musicality, and cultural significance
- Prepare students for performances during school events and cultural celebrations
- Collaborate with music and Armenian language teachers to integrate dance with broader cultural themes
- Foster student appreciation for Armenian heritage through meaningful movement experiences
- Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and discipline
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching Armenian dance, preferably to children or in a school/community setting
- Strong knowledge of traditional Armenian folk and regional dances
- Passion for preserving and sharing Armenian culture through the performing arts
- Ability to choreograph and direct group performances for various age levels
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
- Bachelor's degree in dance, education, or a related field preferred (not required)
