Objective: At Chamlian Armenian School, we are dedicated to building a robust foundation in mathematics by fostering a profound understanding of mathematical concepts and the development of essential skills for both academic success and everyday life. Curriculum Progression: The progression of our math curriculum is carefully designed to move students from concrete, hands-on experiences to abstract mathematical reasoning, laying a solid groundwork of basic principles upon which more complex concepts are built. At Chamlian, our math curriculum thoughtfully transitions students from hands-on, early learning experiences in TK and Kindergarten, focusing on basic number sense through playful exploration, to more advanced abstract thinking and problem-solving by 8th grade. From 1st to 2nd grade, we build upon foundational skills, emphasizing arithmetic fluency and real-world problem-solving, incorporating hands-on learning with visual aids. As students progress into 3rd through 5th grades, they delve into core arithmetic, fractions, and decimals to enhance their computational skills. The curriculum intensifies in 6th through 8th grades, preparing students for high school with formal algebraic concepts and project-based learning that fosters critical thinking. To further challenge our advanced students, we offer accelerated math options in 7th and 8th grades, with complex and rigorous material to prepare them for high-level high school courses and future academic endeavors. This approach ensures every Chamlian student is poised for success, fully equipped with a strong mathematical foundation and a love for learning.
