Glendale Police Department Presents Staying Safe Online: Internet, Gaming, and Social Media Safety

Stronger Families, Stronger Kids: Parent Education Series

The session will take place on Tuesday, April 21 at 8:45am in the school cafeteria.

We are pleased to welcome parents to an engaging and informative parent education session featuring the Glendale Police Department.

Staying Safe Online: Internet, Gaming, and Social Media Safety will provide families with valuable insight into today's digital world and the platforms children are using. The presentation will explore how popular online games function, how online conflicts can escalate, and how virtual interactions can sometimes transfer into real-life peer conflict. Particular attention will be given to trends we are seeing with platforms such as Roblox.

Parents will learn about the potential risks and warning signs to look out for, including excessive gaming, difficulty disconnecting, changes in mood, and increased anxiety, as well as guidance on when adult intervention may be necessary.

The session will also provide practical strategies for home, including setting clear boundaries and expectations, monitoring online activity, and fostering open communication about digital experiences. In addition, families will gain clarity on when situations may extend beyond the home and require school involvement or law enforcement support.

We look forward to partnering together to help our students navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.
