7th Grade trip ~ "The Promise"

On Friday, April 21, Chamlian 7th grade students, along with parent and teacher chaperones, went to watch "The Promise" on opening day. Watching the film together was an emotional and empowering experience. After the movie, Armenian teachers engaged students in a discussion regarding the events of the film and their previous knowledge from their Armenian classes. We are all so thankful to the late Mr. Kirk Kerkorian and all those who had a part in the making and release of this film. #KeepThePromise

Annual Tree Planting Ceremony

On Tuesday, April 4th, 2017, the entire Chamlian family gathered together for the Annual Tree Planting and Candle Lighting ceremony to commemorate 100+2 anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
Chamlian now has a total of 33 trees on campus and plans on continuing this meaningful tradition each year. Underneath each tree, an engraved plaque is placed with the name of a region in Armenia or a victim of the genocide.This year, the region picked was Hromkla.

ARS Javakhk Fund

On Thursday, March 30th, Carnie Armenian, from the ARS Javakhk Fund, spoke to the Chamlian students about the Armenian community of Javakhk - its history, current conditions, and her experiences with Camp Javakhk. She encouraged students to participate in the fundraiser to support the building of Armenian community centers in Javakhk.

Annual Sports Night

On Wednesday, March 29th, 2017, Chamlian Armenian School’s held its Second Annual Sports Night, organized by the Parent Athletic Committee (PAC), to honor and appreciate our KAHAM athletes and coaches. Athletes arrived on campus dressed in their “Marzig” warm up jerseys, accompanied by their families dressed in Chamlian colors, everyone showing their Tiger Pride.

On Tuesday, March 28th, Board of Regents recognized Artsakh's 25th Anniversary of Independence Poem Contest winners. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian shared closing remarks and led the group to sing the national anthem.

8th Grade Students Visit USC Campus

8th grade students visited USC where they were greeted by Chamlian alumni, Chris Amirkhanian, Colette Avanessian, and Silva Lahian (Class of 2009), who gave them a tour of the campus and spoke about their experience at USC. While on campus, students also met with Salpi Ghazarian, director of the Institute of Armenian Studies, as well as associate director, Silva Sevlian. The students had the opportunity to visit the office of the Institute of Armenian Studies and learn about their role on campus.

Hay Tahd Improv Guest Speaker

On Thursday, March 23rd, Chris Bedian a former performer with the Armenian Improv group visited Chamlian to lead a session of improv in Armenian for 7th grade students in the Hye Tahd elective. The students actively engaged in improv activities where they spoke Armenian and used expressions to create small skits. This activity was organized to remind students the importance of using their native language to express themselves. The students had an extremely positive experience and expressed that they would love to try the activities again!

On Thursday, March 23, 2017, the 8th grade graduating class of Vahan and Anoush Chamlian School visited the Western Prelacy where they were welcomed by H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Very Rev. Fr. Torkom Donoyan, Very Rev. Fr. Vache Balekjian, Very Rev. Fr. Nareg Pehlivanian. The students were accompanied by Principal Dr. Talin Kargodorian, Vice-Principal, Mrs. Rita Kaprielian, teachers and parents.
