National Geography Bee 2017

The final round of the National Geography Bee at the school level was held on January 30, 2017. After nine exciting rounds, 6th grader Nareg Simitian was declared the champion. This is Nareg's second year winning the school's Geography Bee competition. Nareg will take a written test for an opportunity to move on to the next round at the state level. Congratulations to all the finalists for their hard work and commitment.

5th Grade Mural Ribbon Ceremony

On January 25, 2017, a special ribbon cutting ceremony took place to unveil our newest mural. Entitle, Facets of the Future, the 5th grade students, along with their homeroom and art teachers created the mural in the fifth grade hallway. The future belongs to our students and they will continue to grow and bring their ideas to life.

4th Grade Wildlife Interactive Presentation

4th grade experienced an interactive wildlife presentation through the Education through Nature program! Students were given the opportunity to become active participants throughout the presentation. In addition to interacting with an array of fascinating animals, the students learned the importance of environmental conservation and how to be respectful towards all living things.

Kindness Adventure Assembly

Chamlian’s 1st-6th grade students participated in the KINDNESS ADVENTURE assembly, where they took a virtual trip to Kenya in order to better understand the importance of KINDNESS. Ms. Mallory, the presenter, used storytelling, music, interactive videos, magical illusions, and student participation, to emphasize the importance of acceptance and kindness.

Chamlian Students Participate at ARF 126th Celebration

On Sunday, January 15th, our Chamlian 4th-6th students participated in the 126th Anniversary for the ARF celebration at Glendale High School John Wayne Performing Arts Center. Our students concluded the program with a lively choir performance and was highly appreciated by the audience.

Honoring our School Librarian ~ Mrs. Stella

We are very proud that Mrs. Stella Der Sarkissian was an integral member of our faculty for the last 30 years . Mrs. Stella, as the students referred to her, joined the Chamlian family in 1986. During her tenure, Mrs. Stella was our school Librarian, promoting the love of reading and life-long learning. Mrs. Stella is commended for extending the role of the library by encouraging students to participate in the city's Bookmark Contest and school's Reading Contest.

Actor from Shakespearience Visits 8th Grade Students

Justin Eick, an actor from Shakespearience, came to Chamlian to speak to the 8th grade students about Shakespearience and the different plays that the students would be seeing. He used some of the students as character stand-ins as he took the students through the stories of Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, Taming of the Shrew, and Midsummer Night's Dream.
