Leadership Clubs

Interest Clubs

Leadership Clubs are the heart of our school's leadership and student representation. These clubs include:


  • Student Council
  • Armenian Club
  • Booster Club
  • Character Counts Crew

Membership is open to all 7th and 8th graders who meet the specific requirements, offering a platform for leadership and active participation in school governance and community projects.

Interest Clubs are centered around students' hobbies and passions, with participation based on an application process. These clubs provide a diverse array of activities that cater to a wide range of interests, allowing students to engage deeply with what they love doing or are curious about exploring further. 


  • Resource Center Assistants (6th grade)
  • Tech Club (8th grade)
  • Marketing and Creative Content Club (8th grade)
  • Design Club (7th and 8th grade)

36.1 Eligibility for Clubs 

  • Current junior high student at Chamlian Armenian School
  • Meet academic requirement of 3.0 and above grade point average 
  • No academic or behavior detentions and suspensions 

 

36.2 Removal from Clubs

  • Students who receive a detention and/or suspension will be removed from the club
  • Students who do not meet eligibility requirements during their term, will be removed from office

Club Description

Student Council

Promote school spirit and leadership.

Advisor: Dr. Talin Kargodorian

Armenian Club

Promote Armenian culture and language.

Advisor: Ms. Tamar Baboujian

*All speeches and posters should be primarily in Armenian, while allowing for occasional use of English when appropriate.*

Booster Club

Promote citizenship and volunteerism. 

Advisor: Ms. Marlene Degirmendjian

Character Counts Crew

Promote acts of service and good character.

Advisor: Ms. Maral Keosseian

Club Positions

Executive Officers: 

  • President (must be 8th grade): creating meeting agenda with club advisor, calling meetings and making sure club members are present, running and leading meetings and club activities
  • Vice President (must be 8th grade): assist and support president with tasks, take their president’s place when president is absent
  • Secretary: take notes during meetings, assist president with clerical tasks (ie. communications)
  • Treasurer: keep club money safe during events, maintain club budget

Class Representatives

  • 2 students from each class
    • Student Council - 2 students from each homeroom class
    • Booster Club - 2 students from each homeroom class
    • Armenian Club - 2 students from each Armenian class
  • Responsible for supporting club activities. 
  • Responsible for notifying class about club events and activities. 

Club Member Responsibilities

  • Bi-weekly meetings during lunch recess (1:10pm - 1:30pm) on Thursdays
  • Meetings are mandatory. If you must miss a meeting, you must notify the club advisor in advance. Excessive absences will result in prohibition or removal from the club.
  • Carrying out plans set forth during club meetings on your own time.
  • Communication through email regularly. Students are responsible for checking email daily. 



Campaigning Rules:

  • Posters should be lightweight so that adhesive can hold. You can use poster putty, double sided foam tape, or packing tape.
  • No material may be distributed (i.e., candy, flyers, or food).
  • Any candidate caught defacing or removing another candidate’s materials will forfeit candidacy.

Candidates should be respectful and appropriate in their posters.

Speech Tips

  • Duration: Aim for a speech that lasts no longer than one minute.
  • Introduction: Start by introducing yourself to the audience.
  • Qualifications: Discuss why you are the right candidate for the position, including your qualifications, unique personal traits, previous experiences, and achievements.
  • Vision: Share your plans and what you intend to achieve if elected.
  • Strategy: Explain how you plan to meet your goals.
  • Conclusion: Conclude with a catchy campaign slogan to make your message stick in the minds of your listeners.
  • Positivity: Maintain a positive tone throughout your speech. Avoid negative comments about the competition.


Executive Election Process: 

Mon. August 18

Form Day

Fill out the intent of candidacy form by 4pm (will be emailed and posted on the school website). The form will close at 4pm and no additional candidates will be accepted after that time. 

Tue. August 19

Notification of candidacy

If you meet all eligibility requirements, you will receive confirmation by email by 4pm.

Wed. August 20

Poster Campaign Day

Poster Campaign Day! Each candidate may place 2 posters in JH hallways. 

Thur. August 21

Speeches and Campaign Final Day 

Speeches for executive position candidates to 6th-8th grades. Live assembly in the gym where candidates will give their speeches. 


Students will campaign at recess and lunch. Posters must be removed by candidates by 3pm.

Fr. August 22

Election Day

Voting will take place during homeroom. Election results will be announced before the end of the day.
