Mrs. Louisa Golshan (aka Mrs. Lou) - Math Department Chair/ Middle School Math Teacher
As Math Department Chair, I am deeply committed to helping students develop strong mathematical foundations while cultivating critical thinking, problem-solving, and confidence in their abilities. My background in mathematics, combined with a passion for innovative, student-centered instruction, has guided my approach to teaching for many years. At Chamlian, we place a strong emphasis on academic excellence, and I’m proud to contribute by designing meaningful math experiences that challenge, inspire, and prepare students for the world ahead.
In my classroom, math is more than numbers, it's a dynamic way of thinking, exploring, and making connections. Math comes to life through creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Whether we're diving into complex concepts or applying math to real-life scenarios, I strive to make learning relevant, engaging, empowering while continuously incorporating rigor!
One of the most rewarding parts of my work is when alumni return and share how our time together whether it was a unforgettable moment in class or learning a fun and meaningful strategy, has stayed with them through high school, college, and beyond. Their stories are a powerful reminder that when students are supported and math is made fun, the impact lasts a lifetime...When learning feels relevant and enjoyable, it stays with you. I believe in the power of positivity and strive to instill this mindset in my students. A supportive and encouraging classroom environment helps students take risks, overcome challenges, and build confidence; not just in math, but in themselves.
Beyond teaching, I enjoy different types of puzzles, like Sudoku, logic puzzles, or brain teasers.
I also find joy in family adventures, travel, and discovering the beauty of math in unexpected places. Traveling is more than just a hobby for me; it's a way to connect with diverse cultures and broaden my perspective on the world. Each journey is an opportunity to immerse myself in new experiences and learn from the rich tapestry of global traditions, while sharing my proud Armenian heritage.
