Mrs. Arda Kassabian

I hold a B.S. in Biochemistry, and six years of experience in applied scientific research that deepened my appreciation for how science is applied in our daily lives. This foundation drives my passion for making science meaningful, engaging, and connected to the real world. It also helps me introduce current discoveries and real-life applications in my classroom, where students are encouraged to think deeply and ask big questions. I believe, as Carl Sagan said, that “Science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge.” 

For the past 20 years, I have been proud to call Chamlian Armenian School home. During that time, I have taught multiple science disciplines to 5th through 8th grade levels, and introduced technology to early elementary students. In my classroom, students experience a balance of high expectations, curiosity, and a good sense of humor, because I believe learning works best when it is both challenging and fun.

While teaching science is my profession, helping students feel comfortable, valued, and confident is just as important to me. I strive to create a classroom that feels welcoming, safe, and supportive. I work to foster a space where students can ask questions, share ideas, take academic risks, and feel encouraged to be themselves. My classroom is built on high expectations, mutual respect, curiosity, and the belief that every student has unique strengths and is capable of success. I aim to create a learning environment focused on meaningful conversations, positivity, and, whenever possible, plenty of laughter. 

Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, fulfilling my unofficial role as “parent” to my daughters’ dog, Toothless, and keeping up with the latest scientific findings.
