Mrs. Hourig Badalian

Welcome! With over two decades of teaching experience and a strong academic foundation in education and liberal studies, I have devoted my career to creating nurturing, engaging, and academically rich learning environments. For the past several years, I have been proud to be part of the Chamlian Armenian School community, where I lead the third-grade team and collaborate closely with colleagues to support student growth and success. My journey in education, supported by specialized credentials in reading and instruction, has shaped a dynamic, student-centered approach that reaches learners across multiple grade levels and fosters a lifelong love of learning.

I earned my Master of Arts in Education from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in English from California State University, Long Beach. I also hold a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Reading Credential from the same universities. Over the years, I have taught a variety of grade levels, from kindergarten English and fourth grade to my current role in third grade, each experience deepening my commitment to guiding students with curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. My earlier work as a substitute teacher gave me the opportunity to adapt to diverse classroom settings and student needs, further strengthening my versatility as an educator.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading, traveling, and creating new memories with family and friends. Exploring new places, cultures, and stories not only enriches my personal life but also brings fresh perspectives and inspiration into my teaching.

Inspired by the words of Michelle L. Graham, “What greater joy can a teacher feel than to witness a child’s success?” I am committed to guiding each of my students toward personal and academic achievement, celebrating every milestone along the way.
