The goal of the Science department is to promote children's natural curiosity through interactive and hands-on activities. The department encourages students to use the Scientific Method in their learning such as observing, predicting, and classifying. Students learn to develop hypotheses, do research, plan procedures, conduct experiments, and draw conclusions.

In grades 1-6, the curriculum covers Life Science, Physical Science, and Earth Science.

The science curriculum in grade seven emphasizes the study of Life Sciences. Our goal is involving students in activities based on Common Core standards, and applying different levels of Depth-of-Knowledge with the focus on Analyzing and Application. Glencoe Science recognizes the importance of conducting inquiry-based science activities in the classroom. The process of inquiry models scientific practice, encouraging problem solving strategies and developing critical thinking skills.

Our fully-equipped Science Lab allows us to provide students with a solid training in science through hands-on experiments and activities.

Each year, the 7th and 8th grade students participate in the school Science Fair which allows them to use their science skills through hands-on experiences. Following a preliminary and final judging, finalists are selected to participate at the Los Angeles County Science Fair. The county winners then go on to participate at the State Science Fair competition.

For the past 12 years, Chamlian students have also participated in the Armenian Science Olympiad, organized by the Armenian Engineers and Scientists of America organization.
