The Art Program is designed to encourage student creativity and self-expression through the use of different media and art techniques. It is geared towards encouraging students' unique artistic abilities and individual styles, thereby facilitating further personal expression.
Throughout the year, students will be given the chance to solve creative problems on their own and in collaboration with other students, while gaining the skills to effectively talk about their choices and other works of art.
The art curriculum follows the California State Standards for Visual Arts. When possible, projects are designed to complement the academic curriculum by reinforcing what has been taught in the core curricular areas.
Students in grades 1 through 6 have choir practice with the music teacher once a week during which time they learn to sing various cultural and traditional songs.
